
Nhyira Oforiwaa Asante is a 22-year-old New York City-based Ghanaian-American dancer and choreographer, born and raised in the Bronx. She graduated *magna cum laude* from New York University's Tisch School of the Arts with a B.F.A. in Dance and a B.A. in Sociology from the College of Arts and Sciences. A graduate of Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts, she has trained at the Dance Theatre of Harlem School, The Ailey School, Ballet Hispánico, Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, and HAMU in Prague, Czech Republic. Her work has been presented at the Battery Park Dance Festival, Forza Dance Festival, and Moving Forward’s Emerging Choreographer Festival. She is a recipient of the 2022 Upsurge Dance Festival mentorship with Sidra Bell and the 2025 Eryc Taylor New Choreographer Grant. Nhyira has worked with artists like Travis Scott and Kaliii, brands including SNIPES USA, Sephora, and Amazon, and served as associate choreographer for the Stephen Sondheim Awards. She was crowned **2023 Miss OKUSACA** (Okuapemman Association of USA and Canada). Nhyira is passionate about using the arts to celebrate African culture and legacy and expand access to creative opportunities for communities across the diaspora. As a mentor to middle school students in the NYCDOE/Lincoln Center Education Arts Bootcamp, she is dedicated to arts education and guiding youth to actualize their goals through creativity and self-expression.
